EMPTY BOWLS FUNDRAISER

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2011

Slow Food Skagit River Salish Sea is pleased to announce that our event was as financially successful as it was enjoyable. We enjoyed two soups created exclusively with Skagit Valley ingredients, in lovely bowls donated by local potters, to the lilting harmonies of the Dovetails acoustic duo. How much more convivial could it be?

An international movement called the Empty Bowls Project inspired us. We are proud to say that we raised a total of $677.

And, because we are also very impressed by the twin goals of the Skagit Food Share Alliance, a program of Community Action: to support local agriculture, and to end local hunger, we are donating the proceeds of our fundraiser to them. They do great work by procuring fresh and frozen foods in large quantities and storing them in their newly remodeled warehouse facility in Sedro-Woolley. This food is divided into manageable lots for local food banks to distribute.

Thanks to everyone who worked on this project, and all the people who attended!
